I learned a few things this past week about certain exfoliators. I was shocked and disturbed to find out that my favorite facial scrub was actually contributing to my blotchy, red skin. My favorite mass market facial scrub is St. Ives, Apricot Scrub. The reason it is not the best choice for your skin is because of the crushed up apricot pits that make the scrub a scrub. The pits are not smooth and round, so when you use it on your face you could be doing a lot of damage. If you have a rough hand and like the way it feels to rub hard while exfoliating you are not alone. I used to think the harder you rub the cleaner you skin will be. Ladies and gentlemen that is not the case. You should not rub your face so hard that it almost hurts and is red after you rinse. So instead of a scrub that has pits or nut shells in it, look for a scrub that has synthetic beads that appear smooth and round. Switching will make a huge difference in the redness of your skin. Also, only exfoliate three to four times a week at the most. Any more then that you are not giving your skin enough recovery time.

Hey everyone! So as you all know I have been struggling with quitting smoking. Since my last update I have only bought one pack of cigarettes. My goal is ween myself off of them little by little. One pack in a few weeks is a really great accomplishment for me. Although I have not gone cold turkey I am gradually quitting. Sine I have yet to quit completely I know I still have a lot of toxins in my body. So, to try and supplement for still smoking I have been going in the steam room at my gym four times a week. Not only does this help me to sweat out the toxins from the cigarettes I smoke but it also has been amazing for my skin. I do not only mean the skin on my face either. My skin every where is starting to improve. I tend to break out on my chest and the back of my neck, but since I have been going in the steam room I have virtually had no acne break outs. I would recommend going to a steam room three times a week for 20 minute increments.

Hi everyone! I am so excited to talk about my personal beauty regimen for my skin. I have normal to oily skin, rarely do I every have dry skin. It was really hard for me to come up with a skin care system that works for me. It has taken me years to figure it out. So if you are frustrated with you skin, try not to fret to much because it does take time to perfect what works for you. Here is my cleansing system: 1. I wash with a cream cleanser 2. I exfoliate with St. Ives Apricot Scrub 3. I wash again with my cream cleanser 4. I put on my Olay non-scented face lotion 5. I put on my eye cream 6. If I have a pimple or two I spot treat them with this German green cream I have. I know that sounds like a lot, but it only takes about 10 minutes. I do it twice a day. It is very important to wash your face morning and night to make sure you get all the makeup, sweat and germs off your skin. Thanks so much for reading. Until next time.Peace <3

Hey everyone. I just remembered a few tips that I learned while I lived in Hawaii about taking care of your hair. Here is a little history to catch you up. The Hawaiians used to use awapuhi straight from the plant to wash their hair and condition it. It's a secret still used by many people in Hawaii today. I don't know if anyone has ever been to Hawaii but all the girls their have amazing, beautiful hair. If you can find any shampoo and or conditioner that has awapuhi in it, I highly recommend using it once or twice a week to improve your hair's condition and shine. Paul Mitchel has good products with awapuhi. Also make sure you are always rinsing your hair with cold water in the shower. It may sound unpleasant but if you do everything you need to do in the shower and then condition your hair last, it will not be bad at all. Cold water will make your hair shinier and help to stimulate your hair follicles. Also, if you have a little extra cash you should try finding some distilled water and washing your hair with it. It is very pure and does not have the minerals and things that come out of your shower water. It will help lock in your hair products effectiveness in your hair. I hope everyone has a beautiful day!

So this week I quit smoking. I have quit and few times before and it didn't really stick for longer than a few months. I have noticed such a dramatic difference in my skin in the past week. Also I don't cough all day, I have more endurance when I work out and I don't feel as weighted down. I highly recommend quitting smoking to everyone reading this. We all know its bad for us in every way, but if you really try it I think you'll like the positives of quitting a lot more then eventually getting lung, mouth or tongue cancer!! There are lots of resources online to help you quit. There are also hot lines that you can call and if you have some extra cash and really want to quit call a hypnotist! I hear it really works. Well until next, blog!!
